Working in retail is wild, people just tell me things about their personal life and I just stand there. I don’t know how to respond to “my kid just died” or “I’m getting a divorce” like that’s sucks… $13.48 is your total.
During my first month with my therapist, I was given this worksheet to read and work on. She noticed that while I was talking with her, that my thoughts followed a lot of these. I wasn’t aware that my anxiety had brought me down paths of low self-worth and stinky thinking.
After a couple of weeks of talking with her, she gave me this worksheet to work on.
While, at first, I thought these weren’t going to work out, I was very surprised to see just how easy they were to use . My homework at that time was to identify which sort of thinking I used on the regular and which ones would best challenge them for me.
So, what do you think? Do any of the maladaptive thinking patterns sound like you? which ways would you like to untwist your thinking?
The shining is barely even a horror movie men just be like that
reasonable expectations for myself for where i am at the moment:
going to work
going to therapy
normal hygiene stuff
maintaining friendships with the caveat that i need extra special help from the people i want to maintain friendships with, i.e.: keep asking me to do stuff even when i say no
taking my meds
working on being aware of what’s happening in my brain and my body and how it impacts my life – not actually having answers or solutions, just being aware
moving. maybe not exercising (ideally but eh) but moving
writing what makes me happy to be writing
I cried at my therapist for an hour and immediately told my mom afterwards to hide their gun because it could be a trigger.
“Hey, you survived,” Matt says, when Foggy
comes out of her orthodontist’s office. Matt had been hanging out in the
waiting room, but someone who was sitting near her had some serious gum damage
and that’s not a pleasant smell.
“I did,” Foggy says, dramatically, leaning
against the doorway. “I did survive. Come here, please. My legs have forgotten
how to leg, and I need to kiss your face.”
“My face?”
Matt asks, standing up so Foggy can wrap her arms around her, clinging.
“I was waiting for this,” Foggy says,
seriously. “Can I?”
